Heritage Archive Scanning

Archive Scanning or Heritage Scanning?

We all have albums, boxes, envelopes of prints and film from our lives. handed down over years from our family, often spanning generations. And they live in these containers, sometimes forgotten or unsure of what to do with them. The idea of scanning all of these pieces is daunting because of the volume, time and equipment involved. That's where we come in.

We specialize in what we call Heritage Archive Scanning or Family Legacy Scanning. We can turn those generational picture albums, boxes and envelopes into digital images for you to digitally archive, reproduce/print or simply share with your family and friends.

Our main goal is to protect and ensure the safety of your originals/materials as well as to make sure they are returned in the same condition as they were received. Many service providers will use high speed, automated scanning machines to scan your originals. These put your originals at risk with possible jams in the machine. We use a high resolution camera system, along with low infra-red output lighting, which creates extremely even illumination across the surface of the original making our process completely safe for your precious memories.

Our Process

Most often you will start with sending us a bit of information about the project through the website using our estimate request form. Here you can describe the scope of your project, including what the originals are, their size range, size of the photo albums or photos, what kind of condition they are, how many items you have to digitize as well as the really important question - what your long term intention or use for the images are. You really want to only scan once, if you can help it. So with that in mind we want to guide you through the options to future proof your digital files for all of your specific uses.

Once we get this information, we may reach out to you for a few quick photos of the originals if we see there may be any potential concerns. Some jobs we'll simply just need to see the originals in person to get a better idea of the condition they are in and some jobs are pretty straight forward. We've seen and worked with on a huge variety of different projects in various conditions. It may be a little more work up front, but it definitely helps us help you.

Once we work out the details of the project, along with the options you would like included, then we can put together an estimate for you.
